LANCASTER, S.C.--Funeral services will be held here tomorrow for Rick Canter, a longtime home textiles industry veteran and most recently senior vice president of sales for Springs Global, who died on Tuesday.
Details on the cause were not released. He was 57.
Canter, a graduate of The Citadel, worked summers at Springs Industries and joined the company full-time in 1974 in the management training program. Over the years, he worked at several companies in the industry, including Pillowtex, Louisville Bedding and American Fiber Industries.
When the latter company was acquired by Springs in 1999, he returned and eventually went on to head up all sales for the company, which became Springs Global. Over the course of his career, he earned a reputation as a hard-working leader who always had a warm smile on his face.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church at 200 W. Gay Street here, with the funeral to follow.
Canter is survived by his wife, Deborah, and two sons, Ricky and Kyle.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Class of '72 Scholarship Fund, The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie St., Charleston, S.C. 29406.
