ROCK HILL, S.C.–Springs Creative Group, a supplier of licensed retail fabrics, packaged crafts and specialty fabrics, has relocated to a new headquarters here.
The company is now situated in the historic Cotton Factory in a 20,000-square-foot facility that serves as its corporate “collaboratory,” as expressed in a statement, and design center. The new headquarters also houses Springs Creative’s consumer-products group. The facility also includes the Historical Library of Textile Design, the largest private collection of fabric swatches, more than 350,000 all told, dating back to the 1800s.
Springs Creative was formed in 1970, when Springs Industries (now Springs Global) purchased the finished-goods division of Indian Head Mill, a deal that established the retail and specialty-fabrics division. In 2001, this division was renamed the creative-products group, and in March 2007, Derick Close, whose ancestors founded Springs Industries, purchased the division from Springs and renamed it Springs Creative. Close is now the company’s owner and chief executive officer.
