NEW YORK–Textiles industry veteran Rick Platt has been appointed president of Brand Matter, a newly formed company that manages fashion brands.
Reporting to Bill Sweedler, chief executive officer, Platt is responsible for leading the Brand Matter executive team in marketing, licensing and growing the company’s stable of brands. Platt will also aid in the company’s pursuit of strategic acquisitions.
Before joining Brand Matter, Platt served as president of NexCen Home Studio, formerly parent company of the Waverly brand. NexCen sold Waverly to Iconix Brand Group earlier this month.
Currently, Brand Matter manages fashion brands such as Ellen Tracy, Company by Ellen Tracy, Caribbean Joe, Havana Jack Café, Jamaica Bay and Periscope. In a statement regarding Platt’s appointment, the company said it plans to add more brands.
