Textillery Weavers
One of the new-product focuses for Textillery Weavers at this week’s gift fair will be to expand its collection of bamboo products. The throw grouping pictured here includes the BTEX PL-TC throw (hanging), along with the BTEX PL-TBL (top of stack), the BAST PKA (second in stack), the BAST TOF (third in stack) and the BAST ALM (bottom of stack). This line is colored in red-hued neutrals, shades of black, cocoa, light tobacco, paprika, toffee and almond. The company’s bamboo line is a “green” collection in that it is made with a lightweight, sustainable bamboo yarn. This yarn “continues to be the perfect resource to create warm, silky and luxurious new designs in colors that also respond well to today’s design direction,” said Judith Rose, head designer for Textillery. “We’re finding that customers are taking the eco-friendly movement seriously. They want to know that the products they buy—and the companies behind them—are environmentally friendly from start to finish.” Made from the pulp of bamboo grass, bamboo fiber comes from a fast-growing plant that doesn’t require harsh chemicals such as pesticides or herbicides. textillery.com

Sferra Bros.
Creating an experience is the concept behind Awning Stripe, a new bed ensemble by Sferra Bros., which will debut at this week’s New York International Gift Fair. The design in Awning Stripe includes a classic floral print of marigolds and roses, paired with lavender stripes. The new ensemble is part of the company’s 1891 by Sferra brand, and it features the signature scallop stitch of this brand on the hems. The ensembles also includes Camellia, a design of embroidered woodland flowers on cotton sheets; the Portico quilt and shams, in an apple colorway; and the Culotte bedskirt, a ruffled linen skirt in lavender. The use of cheery colors in Awning Stripe and in Edmond, another ensemble being launched this week under the 1891 by Sferra brand, is calculated to appeal to consumers dealing with the difficulties of the economic downturn. sferra.com

BlissLiving Home
Blissliving Home will launch a number of bed ensembles at the New York International Gift Fair later this week, including the Tranquility duvet set. As the company described the new ensemble, the design is a case of “East meets West.” Tranquility features a traditional blue and white toile, modernized with oversized prints (a Blissliving Home design signature) and reinterpreted with a watercolor technique. “We try to design products that deliver experiences,” said Mareike Finck, public relations and marketing coordinator for Blissliving Home. “Our collections are inspired by global destinations. They are aspirational products, like bringing a vacation into your home.” The company hopes that Tranquility and its other new designs will strike a chord with consumers who are turning toward their homes in the face of a difficult economic environment. “As people are concerned about the economy, they spend more time in their homes,” Finck said. “They look at their homes as an escape from the uncertainties out there.” Although the tough business climate is expected to stretch well into 2009, Blissliving Home believes that “there are always ways to grow,” Finck said. blisslivinghome.com

Pamela Kline
On the premise that “beautiful dreams need enchanting linens,” Traditions by Pamela Kline will introduce the Enchantment bed ensemble during this week’s gift fair. The new ensemble combines soft and silky sheets with embroidered designs colored in the pale tones of sky and earth. The designs, which center around a medallion look, are part of the company’s orientation toward traditional looks that evoke memories of gatherings with family and friends. With not as much money available to consumers, “People will be spending more on their homes rather than taking vacations,” said Pamela Kline, the company’s owner and chief designer. “Luxury bedding is not just for the wealthy. It’s for all people who want products that enhance their home’s decor.” Enchantment is one of three ensembles Traditions by Pamela Kline will showcase at the gift fair. The others are Tariz, which offers white florals on an earth-tone palette made in organic cotton linen with an origami linen dust ruffle and shams; and Blue Avaline, which encompasses paisley quilts in pink, blue and green, along with an embroidered butterfly design on cotton linens. traditionspamelakline.com
