ATLANTA–Home Source International has opened a new distribution center that provides both direct-to-consumer and direct-to-retailer fulfillment.
The new facility measures 60,000 square feet and can be expanded to 240,000 square feet immediately, depending on the customer needs, the company said in a statement. Among its capabilities are supply-chain services from initial, multilocation shipping rollout to individual replenishment orders; a Web-based inventory control system that provides accounting and reporting; production planning; electronic-data interface services; and customized shipping label design and implementation.
The center offers third-party, turnkey supply-chain services to manufacturers, retail customers and other supply-chain partners. It also serves as Home Source’s corporate headquarters, incorporating the company’s accounting and domestic and international traffic-management operations, along with its distribution functions.
Among the other features of the facility are automated pick-and-pack for small, medium and large retailers and consumers; and e-mail notifications regarding order status and shipment tracking information. The system includes electronic data interface (EDI) services along with state-of-the-art ordering, packing and processing equipment.
According to the statement, the new center enables Home Source to efficiently move product throughout the supply chain, while reducing freight costs and lead times. The logistical capabilities at the center allow the company to provide services for department stores, specialty stores, mass merchants, catalogs, online retailers, TV retailers and consumers.
