WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–An estimated 32,000 retail buyers attended the just-completed New York International Gift Fair, according to a statement issued yesterday by GLM, owner and manager of the show.
Buying activity at the show “was reflective of current economic conditions,” yesterday’s statement said. Buyers looked to meet their needs for restocking the inventories that they had drawn down in the last quarter of 2008. Handmade crafts drew particular interest, according to the statement.
The summer gift fair is scheduled for Aug. 15-20, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94.
