WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–DMG World Media, the parent company of show manager GLM, has canceled the Global Home Textiles and Global Home Decor shows and has eliminated 31 positions in GLM’s White Plains office.
The moves are part of a restructuring of the company’s office here formulated by Alan Steel, executive vice president of DMG’s B2R division. Full details on the restructuring were not yet available, but a DMG statement said the B2R division will be reconfigured into three teams, led by senior vice presidents Phil Robinson, Dorothy Belshaw and Lori Kisner. The restructuring applies directly to the management of the New York International Gift Fair, Surf Expo, the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and Surtex.
The company cited “current market conditions” as the prime reason for canceling Global Home Textiles and Global Home Decor, both of which took place in Las Vegas this past May. DMG has also decided to terminate its contract with the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International for the Affordable Meeting Shows.
The B2R division was established in May to unite GLM’s operations with all of DMG’s North American gift business on the West Coast and in Canada, and its Surf Expo group.
