NEW YORK–Cotton Inc. has gone live with two Web sites focused on sustainability.
The first, CottonToday.cottoninc.com, is a resource that follows environmental advances and research by the cotton industry. This site consists of icon-driven environmental topics such as soil, water, land, energy and habitat. Each section of Cotton Today features graphics, media clips and citations for information sources.
The second, CottonFromBlueToGreen.org, is an online vehicle for Cotton Inc.’s denim recycling program. In this effort, used denim is collected; converted into UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation, a trademarked material; and then donated to communities in need in the Gulf Coast region. The site, which has been revamped from an earlier version, now includes a running tally of jeans and a representation of how many houses have been rebuilt with the insulation to date. Visitors to the site can also learn about how to get involved in this drive, the process of recycling denim and how this material helps communities in need.
