NEW YORK--Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City has issued a proclamation declaring the periods of Jan. 31 to Feb. 7 and Aug. 14 to Aug. 21 to be "Home Textiles Market Week."
According to a statement from George Little Management, the mayoral proclamation is a recognition of both the importance of the market weeks to the home textiles industry and of the economic benefit the city receives from the market weeks. The statement said almost 500 vendors of home textiles participate in the market weeks, along with more than 43,000 retailers and 2,700 vendors to textiles manufacturers. Home textiles vendors display their products at the Jacob K. Javits Center, Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94, 230 Fifth Ave. and 7 W. 34th St.
In addition, according to the statement, GLM, 230 Fifth Ave. and 7 W. 34th St. have jointly developed the "New York Market: Built for Business" tagline and logo to collectively promote activities during the Home Textiles Market Week.
