Ashley McBride to Launch Open Line

NEW YORK–Ashley McBride, the home textiles resource that has concentrated on direct-import programs for larger retailers recently, will launch an open line, to be warehoused domestically, at next month’s textiles show here.

The new line, under the Wellington & Castle Purple Label brand, will feature ten comforter sets, in both four-piece and seven-piece put-ups. Designs will run the gamut from wovens to embroideries to quilted looks, with retails in the $69 to $119 range.

Distribution will be from the company’s East Coast warehouse.

“It’s the first open line we’ve had since we were doing Missoni,” said Barry Shapiro, president of the company, referring to the Italian brand it distributed in the United States in the 1990s. “It’s a way for small and medium size retailers to be able to buy from us without having to order by the container.”

The line will debut at September’s Home Fashions Market Week at the company’s 230 Fifth Avenue showroom.
