Yankee Debuts College Candles
Yankee Collegiate Candles
SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass.-The Yankee Candle Company has come out with a line of collegiate candles, the result of a license agreement with Collegiate Licensing Company, an affiliate of IMG College.
The co-branded Fan Candle Collegiate Collection debuted last month and includes 23 schools: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Four additional schools are also included in the collection through separate licensing agreements: Ohio State, Michigan State, UMass Amherst (available fall 2013), and William & Mary (available fall 2013).
Each candle features the logo and school color plus a Yankee Candle fragrance. Each school has a pre-designated scent that closely aligns with the school color. For example, the Texas Longhorns orange features Yankee Candle's Spiced Pumpkin. "Yankee Candle worked closely with the CLC and the schools to secure approval on the affiliated scents/candle colors to make sure it was aligned with the school's color(s)," said a spokeswoman. The collection is available in a large jar candle or Car Jar Air Freshener. It will be available on Yankee's website and in its retail stores, as well as in specialty and department stores.
"Our fans are as enthusiastic about showing their school pride as their love for Yankee Candle," said Hope Margala Klein, executive vice president, brand, innovation and merchandising for Yankee. "By offering the Fan Candle Collegiate Collection, we can now offer the best of both worlds for our biggest fans."
"We are excited to partner with Yankee Candle to offer a new collegiate candle line to millions of passionate college fans across the country," said Missy Ingram, director of non-apparel management for Collegiate Licensing Company. "The timing of the launch of candles in school colors fits perfectly with College Colors Day on August 30 -- an exciting annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience."
