LOS ANGELES—The keynote presentation by Gordon Segal and the rebranding of Kentia Hall as Kentia—The Global Marketplace were the highlights at the recent California Gift Show.
Segal, chairman and co-founder of Crate and Barrel, spoke on his experiences in launching and operating the retail company. He focused on the importance of differentiating a store, educating employees and customers about what the store offers, and creating an effective merchandise mix.
The renamed and redesigned Kentia included one of the largest collections of Fair Trade Federation exhibitors in the United States, according to a statement from MMPI, owner and manager of the California Gift Show. The hall kicked off the show by recognizing “compelling exhibitor stories of products, artisans and community giving,” the statement said.
