WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–The New York International Gift Fair took a top position among U.S. home and gift trade shows in a survey conducted by AMR International, according to a statement from GLM, the Gift Fair’s owner and manager.
The AMR survey, which involved both attendees and exhibitors, found that NYIGF has an “established position and strong focus on design and quality.” The survey cited the Gift Fair’s Accent on Design and Handmade divisions, the overall product range and the New York City location. Respondents also identified home furnishings and decorative accessories as the most popular product sectors at the show, followed by jewelry.
The survey also found that the average number of buyers per company has been rising for all categories except very small businesses. In addition, it noted that buyer sourcing and spending habits are changing, with retailers reporting that nearly two-thirds of their orders are now placed in the weeks and months following NYIGF, rather than at the show. Also, more than 65 percent of attendees used catalogs and the Internet to find product at the Gift Fair, with 38,000 retailers viewing more than 5.2 million pages on the Gift Fair’s Online Catalog Gallery before, during and after the Fair.
