NY Now to Present "Green" Programs
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-Next month's NY Now will see the return of Degrees of SustainAbility and the Eco Choice Awards, two programs that will highlight socially responsible and eco-friendly products which are displayed in the show's SustainAbility: design for a better world exhibit.
Degrees of SustainAbility outlines industry-specific criteria for identification of "green" products and producers, and uses a three-tiered rating--SustainAbility1 through SustainAbility3--to indicate the extent to which a product or manufacturer complies with these standards. Four companies who will exhibit at next month's show have been given the SustainAbility3 rank: Anointment Natural Skin Care for its certified organic skin and body-care products; Ecojot for its "app ready" notebooks made of 100 percent recycled paper and board; 80 Acres of McEvoy Ranch for its Cedar Olive Oil collection including soap, salt scrub and body balm made with organic essential oils; and Marianne's Solmate Socks for its adult and children's lines of socks made from recycled cotton yarns.
The Eco Choice Awards, sponsored by NY Now and GREENRetailer magazine, will go to three of the nearly 125 products that will be showcased in SustainAbility. Through July 25, buyers and suppliers can vote for their favorite products from among 10 finalists in three categories: "most innovative," "most sensitive use of materials" and "most sellable." Balloting will take place online at giftshopmag.com/votegreen.
