WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-NY Now will add an extra day and extra space to its winter 2014 edition.
As stated by GLM, the show’s owner and manager, the winter NY Now will open on Feb. 1 and run through Feb. 6 rather than Feb. 5, as previously announced. Also, its locations will now include Pier 92 at the Passenger Ship Terminal in New York City, along with Pier 94 and the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Pier 92 has been one of the show’s locations, along with Pier 94 and the Javits Center, when the show was still known as the New York International Gift Fair.
GLM said that, anticipating the winter show’s overlap with Super Bowl XLVIII, which will take place on Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., it has researched New York City’s capacity and confirmed that it can “easily handle” the extra flights, restaurants and crowds that will be attending both the game and the show. The trade-show company added that it had queried attendees about that overlap, who said the additional show day would minimize concerns about Super Bowl week attendance.
“Two weekend shopping days are still available for retailers who can only come on Saturday and Sunday this coming winter,” said Christian Falkenberg, GLM senior vice president and director of NY Now, “plus an extra weekday is guaranteed to those who want to come after Super Bowl weekend.”
GLM added that Travel Planners, NY Now’s official hotel agency, will begin accepting reservations for the winter 2014 market prior to the opening of the summer 2013 show.
