NEW YORK–Lalique, known for its fine crystal, yesterday announced a partnership with Daum, another worldwide crystal brand. This announcement comes after Lalique forged a U.S. partnership with Haviland, a leading global porcelain brand, in June.
Lalique, Daum and Haviland will operate under one umbrella, while still remaining independent in their brand identities. Maz Zouhairi, chief executive officer of Lalique, will take on the role of CEO of all three brands. Thomas Zimmerman, previously the CEO of Daum, will move into a reciprocal role within the newly established partnership, according to a statement from Lalique.
Last year, Lalique owner Art & Fragrance brought on Paris-based Financière Saint-Germain (FSG) as a strategic shareholder. FSG also has a stake in Haviland. In May, Daum was acquired by FSG.
Each company will remain a separate entity, but take advantage of mutual synergies which will result in increased efficiency, according to the statement. The combination of the entities is expected to improve the sales platforms of all three brands by introducing joint boutiques and optimizing sales and marketing initiatives, along with general operations.
“The partnership between Lalique and Haviland opened the door for new growth, and now together with Daum we look forward to our strongest U.S. presence yet,” Zouhairi said in the statement.
Lalique will open a boutique in October at 609 Madison Avenue in New York. Daum currently has a boutique at 696 Madison Avenue. Both Daum and Haviland currently occupy showrooms at 41 Madison Avenue. All three brands will exhibit at the New York Tabletop Show to be held October 13-16.
