ATLANTA–Gift industry veteran James Douglas Glover, who died unexpectedly on April 5, will be honored posthumously with the first-ever Icon Honors Life Achievement Award this summer.

Glover was the founder and owner of Palmer Marketing, one of the industry’s largest marketing and distribution organizations, based in Lenexa, Kan. He ran the company for over 25 years until his death at age 54.

“More than any other individual, Jim Glover has shaped the complexion and destiny of the gift industry,” said George Kacic, chairman emeritus of the Gift & Home Trade Association, “touching the lives and livelihoods of retailers and product manufacturers everywhere.”

Jeff Portman, president of AmericasMart Atlanta, noting a description of Glover as having “an unmatched zest for living, boundless energy and creativity,” said, “These qualities mark a life well lived and a lifetime of creative contributions to the industry we celebrate and serve.”

The award will be presented at the inaugural Icon Honors event on July 17 during the Atlanta Market for gift, home and rugs. AmericasMart, GHTA and HFN are co-sponsors of the event.
