Gift Fair Unveils Phase One of Strategic Plan
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-The New York International Gift Fair will feature the first key components of a three-year strategic plan at this summer's show.
Called "Focus Forward NYIGF 2013," the plan is intended to evolve the Gift Fair into "the defining marketplace for fashion-forward and design-driven home, gift and lifestyle resources," said Dorothy Belshaw, director of the Gift Fair and senior vice president of GLM, the show's owner and manager. Among the components of the plan is the debut at the summer Gift Fair of Baby & Child, a jury-selected specialty-products division that focuses on children's merchandise. In addition, New York's Newest, presently about 200 companies exhibiting at the show for the first time, will return to the Gift Fair.
Also, GLM has reorganized the Handmade section into two categories: Handmade Designer Maker, showcasing 360 limited product manufacturers; and Handmade Global Design, with 200 international resources that combine sophisticated design with artisanal techniques.
The fair is scheduled for Aug. 14 through Aug. 19 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94 in New York City.
