PETALUMA, Calif.–Emma Gardner paintings have been added to the product line of emma at home, with a launch of 17 original, limited-edition acrylic on canvas designs. First shown during Art Basel Miami this winter, the line will consist of 125 reproductions of each design and is rendered in archive-quality giclee printed on stretched canvas.
“Working in a new medium is always an exciting and stimulating challenge,” said Emma Gardner, principal of emma at home. “One of painting’s biggest appeals for me is the immediacy of the process — labor-intensive though it is. I also love the luxury of making my own colors as I go.”
The four series in the collection include Blue Green and Coral Maps, which are abstract color plays based on organic forms; Fire Island, a re-imagination of a scallop shell shard Gardner found on the beach in Fire Island, N.Y.; and the Matryoshkas, which are based on the iconic nesting dolls and explore the complexity behind familial relationships as well as ideas of alienation and association.
Now available online and at the company’s new flagship store in Petaluma, Calif., the works range from 12 inch square to 24 by 36 inches and in price from $154 to $685. In addition, Gardner’s wall decor, pillows and rugs will be shown in Chandra Rugs’ showroom during next month’s Las Vegas Market, B-300.
