LAS VEGAS–Carlton Varney, interior and restoration designer and president of Dorothy Draper & Co., will speak at the World Market Center’s monthly First Friday event on Dec. 5.
Varney will speak on his career, recall his work with celebrity clients, provide design tips and talk about design as a business. According to a statement from the World Market Center, his design philosophy follows the precedent set by Dorothy Draper, founder of the firm he now heads, which emphasizes bright colors and “the rejection of all that is impractical, uncomfortable and drab,” the statement said.
Varney’s most recent book, “Houses in my Heart (An International Decorator’s Colorful Journey),” was released in October.
