WHITEFIELD, N.H.–Adam and Kyle Tager, owners of Mystic Valley Traders and Belle Maison, have purchased Brown Street Furniture, a high-end case goods manufacturer based here. The Tagers purchased a majority stake from Elwin Wright, one of Brown Street Furniture’s original owners.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wright will remain a partner with the firm and manage production of the company, which has made handcrafted hardwood furniture here for 35 years.
The Tagers said Brown Street Furniture’s high quality, attention to detail and distribution to upper-end retailers attracted them to the company.
The Tagers plan to build the company, as they did with Mystic Valley Traders, a luxury top-of-the-bed upholstered headboard maker they purchased in 2003 when it had fallen behind in sales and market appeal. The Tagers invested in product design and marketing, resulting in a 35 percent increase in Mystic Valley’s sales in the first three years, they said.
With Brown Street, “we will expand the product offerings, breathe new life into existing product lines and create stronger brand recognition” with expanded sales and marketing efforts, said Adam Tager.
Brown Street Furniture comes with an already skilled work force, a strong distribution channel and solid reputation, according to a statement.
