DALLAS–Nebraska Furniture Mart broke ground yesterday on a 1.86 million-square-foot site that it is calling “the largest home furnishings store in North America.”
The complex includes a 560,000-square-foot retail showroom along with a 1.3-million-square-foot distribution center. The store will carry a huge selection of furniture, flooring, appliances and electronics.
The footprint for Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas will be equivalent to 40 football fields and will sit on approximately 90 acres. It is scheduled to open in 2015. Nebraska Furniture Mart expects the mammoth store to attract over eight million visitors and generate $600 million in sales annually.
The move into the Lone Star State marks the third and largest store for Nebraska Furniture Mart in the United States.
“We love the growing excitement in the region for our one-of-a-kind home furnishings shopping experience, which will bring something totally new and unique to North Texas,” said Jeff Lind, chief strategy and development officer, Nebraska Furniture Mart.
