High Point Design Center Seminar Slated

HIGH POINT, N.C.–High Point Design Center is hosting Unity in Design, a three-day event during which more than 50 designer-friendly showrooms will open for business. The event, scheduled for Feb. 9 to 11, offers seminars, a factory tour, a career symposium and the Second-Annual Design Professionals of North Carolina Trade Show.
The seminar schedule includes Hannah Davis, owner and founder of Art Gallery Originals, who will speak on “Oil Portraits and The Business of Art.” Focusing on what makes paintings great and what elements to look for when evaluating art, the course identifies why designers are best suited to advise clients on art.
Carolyn Barton, designer marketing for The Sherwin Williams Company, is set to present “How Cultures Influence Color,” an exploration of diverse cultures and how color is perceived differently in different parts of the world.
Top designers Laura Kirar and Melanie Turner will shed light on “The Biggest Influences Affecting Design Today.” The presentation will be moderated by Cheminne Taylor-Smith, vice president of marketing, High Point Market Authority.
