MANILA-The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the export promotions arm of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), will lead a 15-member Design Philippines delegation to the upcoming International Contemporary Furniture Fair, which will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York on May 17-20.
Featured among the Philippine group will be furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue, who earlier this year was named the first Maison & Objet Asian Designer of the Year. Other Design Philippines brands at ICFF will include Ann Pamintuan, atelier a, Catalina, Contemporaneo, Industria, Lightworks, Mayumi, Nature's Legacy and Vito Selma.
The Philippine Pavilion in ICFF, designed by international furniture and interior designer Budji Layug, will showcase a wide range of upscale home designer pieces crafted by the participating Design Philippines companies that embody the artisanal spirit and unique Filipino design sensibility in their product lines.
"CITEM is committed to promoting the Design Philippines brand worldwide; we want it to be more widely recognized here and abroad. The Philippines should be--and must be--the undisputed sourcing destination for finely crafted products in Asia," said CITEM Executive Director Rosvi Gaetos.
ICFF will play host to more than 500 exhibitors from more than 30 countries to showcase contemporary design at its best. Nearly 30,000 interior designers, architects, retailers, designers, manufacturers, representatives, distributors and developers from all over the world are expected to take part in ICFF.
