CMI adds to its roster of braided options with new looks for its Simply Modern line. The collection uses classic color combinations, like black-and-white and blue-and-brown for casual styles suited for varied decorative motifs.
CAPEL RUGS celebrates the grand opening of its redesigned showroom here this month. The company also adds to popular lines and debuts collections as well. Among the new collections are the contemporary Artscapes, which combines modern designs with ancient techniques, and Shagri-La, billed as the next generation in Capel shags. Also new is the hand-tufted Varuna Zieglar Collection. Imported from India, Varuna Zieglar is hand-sheared and washed for a smooth, finished texture.
COURISTAN adds to multiple areas of its business. Among the new products are the hand-knotted Impressions Collection, which features contemporary patterns fused with classic decorative influences. The line pairs a combination of New Zealand and Tibetan wool with viscose highlights. Also new to the hand-knotted offering here is the Eden Collection, which interprets bloom-filled meadows into a cut-and-loop pile for depth and texture. The company hits a contemporary note with the Kenya Collection, inspired by the scenery of an African safari and employing motifs such as foliage and animal prints.
EBISONS HAROUNIAN IMPORTS shows a cross-section of its programmed and one-of-a-kind series, including Antique Serapi, which is comprised of replicas of 19th-century Persian Serapi and Heriz rugs and carpets; Golden Horizons, which features hand-knotted Sino Persians; and Kabul, antique replicas of 19th-century Turkish carpets.
828 INTERNATIONAL launches the Watercolors Collection. Inspired by American and Indian artworks, the series features designs meant to blur the line between modern and transitional. The line is hand-tufted in India.
FEIZY RUGS introduces the Montmartre Collection, the latest in its collaboration with designer Tracy Porter’s studios. The hand-tufted collection uses Seridian wool in a hard-twist pile that is antique washed. The company also adds to its Natasha Collection with designs inspired by the decorative motifs found in 19th-century Russian folk art and brings new colorways to the Caprice Collection, part of the Sandra Lee line.
HAROUNIAN RUGS INTERNATIONAL features the Mahal Collection, antique replicas hand-knotted in India of 100 percent wool, and the Oushak Crown Collection, also hand-knotted in India, of plush 100 percent wool. Oversized options are available upon request for Oushak.
HELLENIC RUG IMPORTS starts off the new year with additions to every product area—150 introductions in all. The company is adding new designs to its popular Candice Olson Collection, with transitional designs to address urban living and traditional designs with modern color palettes. Also new are hand-tufted contemporary designs, additions to the transitional Palermo Collection, and the latest in Kilim rugs and lodge designs to feed the outdoor living frenzy.
JAIPUR RUGS goes green with two new collections of contemporary designs. The Reggae Collection is hand-knotted of 100 percent handspun hemp and uses modern metallic colors, while the Calypso Collection offers a more casual look with hues both earthy and bright and a hand-looped jute construction.
JAUNTY CO. places focus on the launch of its Rounds catalog, noting a jump in the shapes business, with rounds leading the way. The catalog presents more than 100 area rug patterns that represent 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-foot sizes, for a total of more than 400 SKUs that can be available for delivery in five to eight work days. The rugs are hand-tufted of 100 percent wool or wool and mercerized cotton.
KALEEN celebrates the launch of its Paula Deen line of area rugs, which also marks the company’s move into the machine-made category. Three collections lead the debut: an indoor/outdoor collection, a transitional collection designed to reflect Deen’s casual style and the Signature collection with styling reminiscent of Oushaks.
KARASTAN introduces looks that serve to take classic designs into the present with more relaxed styling and a modern palette. Among the latest is Villa Veneto from Karastan’s Antique Legends Collection, which utilizes a new cross-hatch effect to further the design’s antique appeal. Also new here is Ravenna, from the Ashara Collection, which focuses on the popularity of mocha brown, adding accents of amber and cherry red to the design that was inspired by a hand-knotted rug.
KAS RUGS adds to its Sahara Collection with new animal print rugs that take a modern approach on the theme. The company also adds to Elements, a collection of shag rugs, with a floral design, and to its Eternity Collection of multitextured, hand-tufted rugs with Citron Waves, a bright new color combination.
LOLOI RUGS introduces a series of collections designed specifically to provide the value-conscious consumer with options without sacrificing style. The rugs soften vivid colors through the use of the texture of the weave and yarn.
MOMENI takes an eco-friendly turn with Naturally...Momeni, a new collection that implements only natu ral techniques, using vegetable- or un-dyed wools and other materials such as nettle, hemp and natural silk, and washing with river water instead of chemicals. Other new designs come with Millennium, a collection of hand-woven wool rugs created to mimic needlepoint pieces; Arts & Crafts, inspired by the design movement popular in the 18th and 19th centuries; and Serengeti, a collection of hand-tufted rugs designed to resemble animal prints from the African outback.
NOURISON adds new designs across its categories. Introductions include Nourison Reflections, a hand-tufted line that takes a contemporary look at more traditional motifs; Silk Pointe, aimed at a more luxury audience, with 100 percent New Zealand wool and pure silk with the worn look of antiques; and the Alexandria Collection, which features traditional Persian designs in a muted color palette. The company also adds a variety of animal prints in both the Cosmopolitan and Nourison Dimensions collections.
RIZZY RUGS celebrates the opening of its new showroom here with a cross-merchandising plan that pairs its rugs with coordinating pillows from its sister division, HomeTexco. The company will show a full sample of its rug assortment, including a variety of styles, this week.
SAFAVIEH honors the anniversaries of its two big licenses—Martha Stewart Rugs and the Thomas O’Brien Collection—with introductions for each. The Stewart collection is stepping into its second year, while the O’Brien Collection moves into its third. In addition, the company has added to other popular collections, including Oushak, Peshawar and Soho. For Peshawar, it’s a new range of Sultanabad and Ziegler Mahal designs in monochromatic tones and combinations of icy pastels. Soho gains new transitional patterns, while Oushak continues with adaptations of traditional motifs in softer, modern shades.
SHAW LIVING adds new styles to both the Kathy Ireland Home Essentials and Kathy Ireland Home Gallery. The new designs are machine-woven of olefin and include Buenos Aires, a damask and scroll design over a block motif; Safari Leaves, a block design that blends organic patterns, leaves and stripes; and Royal Riviera, a retro design using geometric circles and contemporary graphics.
SPHINX BY ORIENTAL WEAVERS introduces two machine-woven collections, Genesis and Samarkind II. Genesis is a compilation of classically inspired Persian motifs, transitionals and relaxed contemporaries, using up to 55 colors in each pattern. Hard-twist yarns and drop-stitching are added for textural appeal. Samarkand II is a group of soft contemporaries and casual patterns in warm, organic hues.
SURYA adds product across multiple categories. Also new here is Roommates, a group designed in partnership with Wynwood Furniture and styled to coordinate with the fabrics that compose Wynwood’s own Roommates program.
