DALTON, Ga.–Shaw has created an executive-level council to further advance sustainability as core to its long-term business-growth strategy.
The Growth & Sustainability Council is comprised of 15 key company executives across all business and functional areas of the company to ensure it addresses all corners of its business. The council is charged with building on the company’s environmental stewardship as set forth in the Shaw Green Edge program, an environmental communication platform developed in November 2006. Shaw’s Green Edge addresses corporate governance and social responsibility, operational and environmental excellence, and the design of unique products and services.
“Shaw sustainability is about driving growth, innovation and productivity throughout the value chain and, therefore, better serving our customers,” said Vance Bell, chief executive officer of Shaw, in a statement. “The council will identify and prioritize key strategies and initiatives for company growth while embracing Shaw’s strong tradition of sustainability.”
Rick Ramirez, Shaw’s vice president of sustainability and environmental affairs, will serve as the council’s chairman and Hal Long, executive vice president of operations for the company, will serve as executive sponsor. Shaw has also secured Bruce Piasecki, author of “World Inc.” and president of AHC Group, to serve as a professional facilitator, assisting in the organizing and developing of information for the council.
