New York—Architect and designer David Rockwell has launched a hand-knotted collection with The Rug Company with designs that range from his love of theater to his collection of kaleidoscopes.

“I¹m not a product person,” Rockwell told HFN. “And I¹m not necessarily a shopper. But I love surfaces and light.”

Available in September, the collection consists of Stage Light, which has a spotlight effect; and Metallic Squares, Kaleidoscope Gradient and Metallic Ovals, which use silk and graduated color for effect. There are also two cushion and wall-hanging items.

In addition, The Rug Company recently reopened its New York showroom, expanding another 500 square feet. It also plans to open a Chicago showroom in September and another one in Dallas in October.
