ColorfieldsColorfields debuts at Showplace
HIGH POINT, N.C.-Today is the midpoint of High Point Market, which started Saturday and runs through Thursday.

This season’s edition is continuing the market’s long-time tradition for trendsetting.

The outdoor living category grew for many manufacturers. Momeni added the Veranda line of indoor/outdoor Bohemian-themed rugs with designs inspired by henna tattoos, African motifs and other elements.

Pacific Coast Lighting had a number of new items in what it called a refined industrial look. It also had many introductions that had surface interest, ranging from Makani, which has two layers of woven bamboo, to such coastal items as Siesta Key, which resembles barnacles.

Building upon its January introduction of the handknotted Twilight collection, Nourison expanded with an “out of this world” look, called Odyssey, a woven representation of the surface of the moon. Twilight also added traditional designs with saturated colors to contrast with the original soft tonal group.

Kaleen build upon its Restoration line, a sheared handknotted look, with the new Relic group, which also has a low pile but has more transitional designs.

With 180 introductions, Currey & Co. had a number of new brass items. “Brass is important,” said Cecil Adams, creative director. “It falls into the gold category,” a popular group in itself.

Colorfields, the new lower-priced brand from Company C, debuted in its own showroom in Showplace. “It’s opening up new doors for us,” said Walter Chapin, co-founder. A purely wholesale venture, the brand debuted with 30 designs, each in six sizes.

Wildwood Lamps debuted 175 items at market. From designer Artemis, English teapots inspired the Stout, Spout and Shout lamps, while his popular Tweet wall hooks now come in a lamp version.
