PAWTUCKET, R.I.–CMI (Colonial Mills Inc.), a leading manufacturer of braided area rugs and accessories, has hired 19 outside independent sales representatives in an effort to reorganize its sales department to maximize the company’s growth. Previously, it operated with an internal sales staff.
“This change was made to ensure we’re marketing the CMI brand to all the mom and pop stores and the medium-sized retailers,” said Donald Scarlata, president and chief executive officer. “We now feel we have a team in place that can best satisfy our customers’ needs while communicating the many benefits of braided as a construction, not a style.” The outside reps will report to Roy Evans, vice president of sales and marketing, as do the company’s national sales managers Gregg Scarlata and Meredith Thayer, who focus on large, specific accounts.
