America’s Magnificent Carpets Award Winners Named

ATLANTA–Architectural Digest stepped up again to host another installment of America’s Magnificent Carpets Awards during the International Area Rug Market here. This year’s awards were held at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Jeff Petersen, executive director for Architectural Digest, said he was impressed by the rug industry and its continued ability to produce “such beautiful product of such utility for American homes.”
2008 Magnificent Carpet Winners were, in handmade rugs (price per square foot), Chandra Rugs, $0-$12; Pasargard, $12.01-$23; F. Kashanian, $23.01-$35; Amici Imports, $35.01-$46; Paramount Rugs, $46.01-$56; Creative Touch, $56.01-$65; and Michaelian & Kohlberg, $65.01 and over.
Power-loomed rugs winners (price per rug, average 5-by-8) were Capel Inc., $0-$200; Shaw Living, $200.01-$400; CMI, $400.01-$1,000; and Karastan, $1000.01 and over.
Chaman Rugs won for Antique Rug; American Cottage for Contemporary Rug; and Capa Imports for Buyer’s Choice.
Visual Displays winners were Balta U.S., third floor; Caravan Couture Rugs, fourth floor; Momeni, fifth floor; and Monti Rugs, sixth floor.
