LAS VEGAS–When Abbyson first expanded beyond the rug category, the company promised there would be even greater things to come.
That prophecy came to pass at Las Vegas Market last month when the company opened the doors to a second showroom, this one in Building C, and introduced two European furniture partners: Musterring residential furniture from Germany and Sagsa office furniture from Italy.
Alexander Hoener, president of Musterring, said a great advantage to entering the U.S. market via a partner like Abbyson is having local eyes on the scene. “Coming from Germany, you cannot always see what will work in the states,” Hoener said. “You can only have success if you have a good partner and when we met with Abbyson, the trust was there.”
Sagsa President Michele Perini agreed, saying his company “saw opportunity for the U.S., even though the competition is tough.” Perini hopes the modern office furniture his company will sell through Abbyson will breathe life into offices across the country, noting his company does not understand why offices are always “so gray, when life is so full of color.”
The new showroom and partners does not mean Abbyson is leaving its roots in the dust. The company has maintained its showroom in Building A as a gallery for its handmade rugs and will continue to build that part of its business as well. — Jennifer Quail
