Surya's Tiwari Wins Jerry Gans Memorial Award
CALHOUN, Ga.-Surya President Satya Tiwari has been named the recipient of the 2013 Jerry Gans Memorial Award by the Greater Metropolitan Home Furnishings Association (GMFA). The award is presented each year to an individual in the home furnishings industry who has provided distinguished service to the industry.
Since joining Surya as president in 2004, Tiwari has led the company to consistent year-over-year growth, reaching $64 million in revenues in 2012. Surya's community outreach includes supporting nonprofits East Meets West and the Akshaya Patra Foundation, which provide food and other life-changing resources for impoverished students across India and Vietnam.
"We are so pleased that Satya will be accepting the Gans award this year," said Andy Gans, for whose father the award is named. "Satya is widely respected in the home furnishings community, not only for his ability to run a profitable business, but also for being a good friend to his suppliers and a role model to his employees. His leadership is reflected in the way Surya is perceived in the industry and by its customers."
"I am truly honored to receive the Jerry Gans Memorial Award," Tiwari said. "I share this award with our Surya team members who all work very hard each day not only to provide our customers with the most on-trend and innovative products but also the best service possible. On behalf of Surya, I thank the Greater Metropolitan Home Furnishings Association for this important recognition."
Tiwari will be presented with the award at the GMFA dinner and dance Dec. 7.
