DALTON, Ga.–St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s recently honored Shaw Industries Group with its annual New Partner of the Year Award for the flooring company’s commitment and support. Shaw began working with St. Jude last year and its support has so far included a national sponsorship, cobranded products and the personal involvement of Shaw associates and retailers. To date, Shaw has donated more than $1 million in cash and in-kind donations to the hospital, helping to ensure that no family receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.

“We are inspired by the energy and dedication at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Shaw Industries President Randy Merritt, who accepted the award at the annual St. Jude Volunteer Awards reception in Memphis. “We are incredibly proud to support its mission to save the lives of children around the world.”

In 2012, Shaw became the second national sponsor and exclusive flooring provider for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, providing a variety of flooring to nearly 30 homes across the nation. Shaw also sponsored Floor Signing events for each home—when the builders celebrate the end of a successful construction, the team gathers to sign the subfloor, commemorating the efforts and leaving well wishes for the new homeowners. This giveaway generates more than $23 million for St. Jude annually.

The Shaw team also works closely with St. Jude to create campaigns that educate the public about the pioneering research and treatment at St. Jude. In January 2013, the company introduced the Shaw Carpet Cushion collection benefitting St. Jude. In the six months since the collection launch, more than $111,000 has been donated on behalf of Shaw and its retailers.

Shaw recently announced its national “You Save We Give Sale” to support St. Jude. Consumers will receive $100, $300 and $500 coupons based on the quantity of flooring purchased, and 10 percent of the face value of each coupon will be donated to St. Jude from Oct. 1 through Nov. 18.
