Shaw Has It Covered at Grand Central Terminal
Flanked by Rockettes, Merritt addresses the crowd at Grand Central Terminal Holiday Fair's ribbon cutting.
NEW YORK-The Grand Central Terminal Holiday Fair in Vanderbilt Hall kicked off yesterday, and Shaw Floors was there to celebrate, as it has provided both the carpet and hard flooring for this year's fair. It is the first time that the holiday fair has used any temporary flooring for the event. Randy Merritt, president of Shaw Floors, along with Grand Central Terminal executives, cut the ribbon on the fair, which runs through Dec. 24.
Shaw reached out to Grand Central Terminal to see how it could be involved, as it is Grand Central Terminal's 100th anniversary this year, Merritt told HFN at the event. "We wanted to do something special."
The flooring was chosen to complement Grand Central's iconic architecture, and the red carpet used -- Shaw's Design Details in Grand Central Red -- is reminiscent of the carpet used to welcome celebrities in the late 1920s.
