PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.–Safavieh will host a meet and greet with celebrity designer Thom Filicia during the upcoming High Point Market. To be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, the event celebrates Filicia’s new decorating book, “American Beauty,” and will include photo ops with Filicia and refreshments. Guests will also receive bookmarks illustrated with images of Filicia’s vegetable-dyed hemp rugs for Safavieh, which he will sign. Safavieh’s showroom is located in Historic Market Square, suite 120.
Filicia and Safavieh have also extended a special invitation to members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council to the party, which is listed in the SFC Shop Sustainable map and Guide to Green at High Point Market.
A member of SFC, which has named him a DESIGNINGreen Leader, Filicia has incorporated the eco-friendly rugs he designed for Safavieh in his Skaneateles Lake, N.Y. home, the subject of “American Beauty,” a combination memoir and decorating guide.
Safavieh’s introductions at High Point represent a major expansion in eco-friendly rugs, said Cyrus Yaraghi, principal. The company will add new SKUs to Filicia’s ikat hemp collection and his outdoor collection, crafted of yarns from recycled plastic bottles, as well as add 28 designs to the Safavieh Natural Fiber collection.
“Our yarns are hemp or jute depending on the design, and our new rugs feature fashion colors from purple to charcoal gray,” said Yaraghi. “We will also introduce chunky textures in sisal for a luxury designer look.”
Safavieh will serve breakfast and lunch during market, as well as host a late afternoon wine and cheese happy hour daily.
