PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.–Renowned interior designer and architect David Easton will join Safavieh at High Point Market for the debut of Indian Sojourn, his new collection of colorful ikat designs in the Safavieh Couture line. The launch kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 23, with a themed party featuring Indian-style refreshments and a book signing event for Easton’s book “Timeless Elegance” at 3 p.m. at Safavieh’s Market Square showroom, Suite 120.
Safavieh developed a special Soumak weave for the new collection to capture the handmade character of ikat textiles that Easton had collected during his travels. Handknotted in India of 100 percent wool, Indian Sojourn includes eight designs and follows Easton’s successful African-inspired Peshawar rug series introduced last year. Names for each rug in the new collection — such as Bengal Diamond, Jaipur Zig Zag, Goya Stripe and Hyderabad Garden — reflect the Indian heritage of the design.
In addition, Safavieh will serve breakfast, lunch and late afternoon wine and refreshments daily during High Point Market.
