Rug Ready in Atlanta

AtlantaRugMkt_2015ATLANTA--At the Atlanta International Area Rug Market, which opens tomorrow, there will be many opportunities to network, learn and socialize--along with viewing introductions. Here are a few of the events taking place at the market (all in AmericasMart's Building 1 unless otherwise noted).

Wednesday, Jan. 7

9 a.m.-5 p.m.: Museum of Introductions (MOI) Gallery will be open so attendees can view the nominees for the America's Magnificent Carpet Awards (AMCA) in a museum setting. 4-B-1

1:30 p.m.: "The Unique Rug Forum -- The Future of the Rug Business" is an informal panel presentation and discussion moderated by Rob Leahy, Jim Garner and Frank Eways Jr. Sponsored by Oriental Rug Retailers of America (ORRA). 4-G-7

3:30 p.m.: "ORRA's New Look...Our Mission, Logo and Educational Programs...A Virtual Approach" is a presentation given by ORRA board members to discuss ORRA and its future plans. 4-G-7

3-6 p.m.: Couristan will celebrate its newly expanded space with a cocktail party, during which attendees can enter to win an Apple MacBook Air or an iPad Air 2. 6-D-11

Thursday, Jan. 8

9 a.m.- 5 p.m.: Museum of Introductions (MOI) Gallery is open. 4-B-1

4-7 p.m.: Kalaty and designer Josie Natori will celebrate their partnership and new licensed line. In addition, the company will give away something designed by Natori. 4-G-14

5 p.m.: Loloi will host its market party in its showroom, and will feature the band Glow. 4-D-2

5:30 p.m.: Nourison celebrates its 35th anniversary with dinner, cocktails and music in its showroom. 3-F-2

6:30-10:30 p.m.: Party on Peachtree 2015, which benefits Gift for Life. 200 Peachtree St.

Friday, Jan. 9

9 a.m.- 5 p.m.: Museum of Introductions (MOI) Gallery is open. 4-B-1

10:00 a.m.: ORRA will host a meet and greet with ORRA board members and its new president, Rob Leahy. Light refreshments served. 4-G-7

10:30 a.m.-noon: Presented by Phil Menendian, Mark Keshishian and Michael Joseph, along with a panel of member rug appraisers, ORRA's "Knot To Be Missed" will focus on a specific group of rugs. To register contact orra@orrainc.com. 4-G-7

1:30 p.m.: ORRA sponsors the walking tour, "Walking the Market with Phil Menendian," ORRA's education chairman. Floor 2, ORRA booth

6 p.m.: America's Magnificent Carpets Awards, which recognizes the newest area rug introductions, will take place. Westin Peachtree Plaza

Saturday, Jan. 10

10 a.m.: Breakfast of Champions, which recognizes the winners of America's Magnificent Carpets Awards and is open to all attendees. 4-B-1

Sunday, Jan. 11

1-2 p.m.: Jaipur will host a luncheon and book signing with designer Suzanne Kasler for the Atlanta Interior Design Camp that takes place during market. 12-F-9
