Powell Expands Bombay Collection

HIGH POINT, N.C.—The Powell Company adds to its Bombay Heritage line with three new collections, debuting at High Point Market, which opens on Saturday. Powell shows at 200 South Main Street.

The Luxe Shag collection is an assortment of seven space-dyed colors of thick, 100 percent microfiber pile. Handtufted in China, all sizes and colors are in stock and ready to ship; the collection meets all U.S. flammability laws. Named for the French word for sun, the Le Soleil indoor/outdoor collection is UV protected for more than 300 hours of direct sunlight, and is stain and water resistant. Le Soleil has a thick high-low loop handtufted construction of 100 percent polypropylene, with a polypropylene latex packing. The Tapes collection, named for the French word for tapestry, is a flatweave line with intricate transitional designs using space-dyed chenille yarns, and is backed with a latex primary packing with a soft cotton backing finish.

“With the success of the Bombay launch of these collections in Las Vegas, the complete final assortment will be featured in High Point,” said Jim Ziosis, CEO, Powell. “These new styles will add to the original introductions from last October High Point Market, which featured eclectic, transitional and classic designs composed of handtufted wool rugs from India and modified acrylic handtufted cut loop pile designs from China. We have expanded our offerings to encompass the complete Bombay lifestyle.”

“Because of the tremendous demand during the October 2012 High Point and January 2013 Las Vegas markets, I believe these three new collections offer that unique and loved style that only Bombay can deliver,” said Wil Hollands, president of Hermes-Otto International, which owns the Bombay brand. “The addition of Bombay to Powell gave us a great opportunity to offer to our dealers a proven name and product line. The addition of Bombay rugs has strengthened that offering and now with these latest rug additions of Luxe, Le Soleil and Tapes it only makes the offering stronger. Bombay by Powell offers a one-stop shop experience that makes it very easy for the retailer.”

In addition, Powell will also introduce its full line of now more than 400 styles of area rugs and its new rug catalog, which will include all rugs that are in stock and ready to ship immediately. In the promotional back-to-college area, Powell will feature two collections; both are power loomed in transitional, multicolored and geometric two-tone designs.
