NEW YORK–Spanish rug company Nanimarquina unveiled its first U.S. showroom yesterday to the media. In an industrial building reminiscent of its office in Barcelona, the new 950-square-foot space in Soho solidifies the company’s dedication to the U.S. market.
“It’s a big step for our company,” said Ben Anicet, manager of U.S. operations. “This is a key market for us. We needed to serve the design community in a big way.” The 26-year-old Barcelona-based company has been in the U.S. for two and a half years. The showroom is located at 588 West Broadway.
The company, whose name comes from combining the founder’s first and last names, incorporated some of the elements of its Barcelona store into the new space, as the showroom design focuses on white to better feature the company’s colorful rugs. The shelves along one wall is also similar to the ones in Barcelona location, and hold rolled rugs. Four rugs, from neutral to colorful, hang on the opposite wall.
The displays will change every three months, Anicet said, and the company will use the showroom to debut some introductions during the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in May, while other new designs will be at the company’s booth at the Javits Center.
