ATLANTA-Momeni debuted its expanded custom rug program at last week's Atlanta International Area Rug Market, launching handknotted designs made in Nepal and tufted ones made in Mexico. The program launched in January 2010 with a program of Chinese-made goods.
Made in Mexico, Aztec Custom Concepts items are made of high-quality, virgin New Zealand wool, said Douglas Tashjian, who joined the company last month as custom program director, and the company has "all kinds of custom abilities with it," including making sizes up to 30 feet wide by 60 feet long. Sizes up to 9-by-12 ship in four weeks, while larger sizes take longer. Twenty-four designs are available.
Nepal Custom Concepts has more than 20 designs and 600 colors available in wool and silk, or it can be dyed to match. It can be shipped in as little as 90 days.
"The new program was well received," Reza Momeni, president, told HFN. And as the average order from the program is $3,000, this is "good for stores."
A display is also available if retailers want it for the program. It is seven feet tall and fits six samples on four sides.
