LAS VEGAS-Texture and shine are among the standout features in the rug introductions at Las Vegas Market, which runs until Friday.
“Sheen is big right now,” said Ashley Alford, design manager, Momeni. One of its newest collections is Seraphina, a “spa-like” line made of a wool and viscose blend. “We’re seeing shiny looks everywhere,”Alford said. Another new group is called Sabi, which consists of colorful ikat designs handknotted of bamboo fiber.
Jaipur is “focusing a lot of energy on texture,” shown in such lines as its Scandinavia line, said Asha Chaudhary, CEO. The designs are solid, she said, but have so much texture. “It adds new dimensions. We feel it will be a very good staple for us,” Chaudhary said. Designs include felt, wool/viscose, high/low, cut and loop and more. “It’s a mix of a lot of textures,” she said.
Nourison has expanded its indoor/outdoor category from one collection to four, including the South Beach group of vibrant floral designs. It has also added a number of colors to Rhapsody, a powerloomed group that is handwashed, handserged and handcarved.
Uttermost’s rug category, which debuted last fall, has grown to 127 items, said Scott Doyle, national sales manager, and rugs with “mixed materials have been phenomenal.” Tobias, a leather and hemp flatwoven design, has been the best seller in the rug group, and at this market more colors were added to that collection.
Shaw emphasized its Tuftex division with a new display showcasing the custom capabilities available with the Tuftex broadloom line. Any of the Tuftex designs can be used, and the custom area rugs can have such borders as leather or fabric.
