NEW YORK-The Home Fashion Products Association has released a national standard for residential bath rugs.
The new standard—which resulted from the collective efforts of HFPA members Mohawk Home, Shaw, Springs Global and Welspun—identifies important product attributes and sets “reasonable levels of quality for residential bath rugs,” according to the foreword of the standard. It includes requirements for performance, yarn types, dimensional tolerances, chemical characteristics and labeling. It also describes tests which will be performed under laboratory conditions by internationally recognized testing labs.
The standard also includes definitions of bath-rug terms, and says product claims such as “stain resistance” shall be supported by data or testing that meet the truth-in-advertising guidelines set by the Federal Trade Commission.
Copies of the standard can be obtained from HFPA through its executive director, Ellery Moses, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
