Blog:The Good Show Vibe Continues in Vegas

LAS VEGAS–The Las Vegas Winter Market opened yesterday with a bang, continuing the good vibes of the January trade shows.

Showgoers packed the showrooms and hallways, and educational and socializing events were well attended.

A presentation by celebrity Priscilla Presley was standing room only as she debuted her new home furnishings line with H Studio. The collection includes furniture, wall decor, accessories, tabletop, rugs and lighting. Design styles for the collection fall into three lifestyles: Vintage Eclectic, Traditional Living and Gothic Modern. Three motifs–doves, butterflies and horses–are woven throughout the pieces.

Presley said that she always appreciated design — including redesigning and making items like curtains for her mother when growing up — “I never really had the opportunity to express it until now.”

Designer and television personality Chayse Dakota launched her new rug line at Jaipur, consisting of hand tufteds, Tibetan weaves, and transitional handknotteds, said Josh Roberts, vice president, sales and marketing. In addition, the company added 80 new flatweaves, including a collection called Highlanders. “The appetite for flatweaves is unlimited,” he said.

Julie Wong launched her first namesake line with The Rug Market, offering about 22 designs in natural, organic forms for an industrial chic look. With a background in couture fashion, her passion is rugs, she told HFN. “Rugs can change a room.” Inspired by water, nature and travel, the line “can fit into any environment … I didn’t want anything pretentious.” They are made of New Zealand wool and silk. The company will have a cocktail party this afternoon to celebrate the new line.

AF Lighting focused on its Candice Olson collection this market, including the Drizzle group of printed pendants and table lamps, shown. They are available in four colors.

The Italian and French rustic theme continues to grow at The Import Collection, which includes such introductions as ceramics, shown here as wine bottles. Other additions include red mercury glass items and linen pillows with a travel theme.

Kalco brought its Allegri line to Las Vegas Market, which brings a different look to its line through a new factory in China. The line consists of 300 high-end crystal fixtures.
