BENTONVILLE, Ark.–Vicente Trius has been appointed executive vice president, president and chief executive officer of Walmart Latin America.
Information on who he is succeeding was not available.
Trius, who had headed Walmart Brazil for 11 years, had been executive vice president, president and CEO of Walmart Asia for the past year. During that time, he supervised the opening of more than 40 new stores in China, the introduction of Every Day Low Pricing in Japan through the retailer’s Seiyu unit and completed Walmart’s first distribution center in India. In addition, Trius spearheaded Walmart’s first wholesale cash-and-carry facility in India, which is slated to open sometime during this quarter.
He will assume his new role on July 6, and Walmart will name his successor in Asia at a later date. In the meantime, Doug McMillon, president and CEO of Walmart International, will head the Asia operation.
