Wal-Mart’s Scott to Offer Keynote at NRF’s Big Show

WASHINGTON–Lee Scott, president and chief executive officer of Wal-Mart Stores, will offer the keynote address at the National Retail Federation’s annual convention in January.
Scott will discuss the company’s commitment to sustainability, building a more ethical and eco-friendly supply chain, while staying true to the retailer’s mantra of “helping people save money so they can live better”
Scott will speak from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 12.
Following Scott’s presentation, Carl Steidtmann, chief economist, consumer business, Deloitte Research, and Stacy Janiak, vice chairman, national sector leader of retail, Deloitte, will discuss the slowdown in consumer spending and what retailers can do to respond to an economic downturn. They will also cover insights in purchase behaviors and offer an outlook for spending in 2009.
At 3:45 p.m. Jan. 13, Annette Verschuren, CEO of The Home Depot Canada and Asia, will speak about “Building It Better at The Home Depot.”
Verschuren will address how the retailer is growing its competitive advantage in Canada and Asia.
