FRIANT, Calif–The Specialty Sleep Association has assembled a group of mattress company executives to serve on its Initial Governing Board of the association’s “Green Initiative.”
The board includes Ralph Rossdeutscher, president of Jeffco Fibres; Gerry Borreggine, president and chief executive officer of Therapedic; Kevin Stein, vice president of marketing and R&D for Latex International; and Dale Read, SSA’s president. An SSA statement said the group’s tasks are to appoint and direct the recruitment of a working committee of mattress manufacturers and suppliers and to finalize consultants and other outside sources that will carry out the Green Initiative’s mission—to identify, define and standardize how mattress manufacturers and retailers label green and natural sleep products.
The group determined that the industry requires a common set of green definitions, terms, standards and processes at SSA’s Green Initiative Conference in May.
