MINNEAPOLIS–Select Comfort said it plans to sell its products only through its own distribution channels, which include its 420 company-owned stores, direct marketing and its e-commerce Web site.
The company said it will discontinue distribution through non-company owned mattress retailers in the contiguous United States this year, while continuing to sell to separate retailers in Canada, Hawaii, Alaska and Australia. The mattress manufacturer/retailer said this decision was mutually agreed upon by these retailers, and should have no significant impact on the company’s sales or profits this year. Select Comfort also said the change is part of its efforts to reignite the Sleep Number brand and to further its distribution strategy.
The company reported that its same-store sales in July grew 1 percent over July of 2008.
