COLUMBUS, Ohio–Off-price retailer Retail Ventures has entered into discussions with an undisclosed third party for the possible sale of its Value City Department Store chain.
Value City is a 113-unit chain with stores in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
"There is no assurance that the indication of interest will ultimately lead to a transaction or, if there is a transaction, what the ultimate terms would be," Retail Ventures said in a statement.
The party interested in buying the business has been given a 25-day exclusivity period.
Retail Ventures also operates Filene's Basement and the DSW shoe chain.
