MILTON, Mass.–Judy George, the indomitable industry veteran who last ran Domain Home, is back with a new consulting and turn-key business company.
Judy George International teams up George with the designer Kim Salmela in a venture that will work with companies to develop branded and private label product programs, offering the complete package from creative to sourcing to sales and marketing.
“George and Salmela understand that today’s consumers need a new reason to buy and must feel an emotional connection before they make a purchase,” according to a statement from JGI. “As retailers, both women were known for constantly seeking out new, innovative product.”
One of the first projects from JGI is called Hotel Maison, a hotel-inspired collection it is developing with Steve McKee of Home Furnishings International Brands. It will develop sourcing, manufacturing, sales, marketing and distribution for the project, which will be previewed at a pre-launch event at the High Point Market next month. An especially innovative element of this project is what the company calls a “concierge service” that will provide direct service, design guidance and trend information for customers.
JGI has two other projects in the works: GG Boudoir, a teen-young woman concept, and XY Factor Design, a contemporary program.
