J.C. Penney Partners With OurWeddingDay.com

PLANO, Texas–J.C. Penney is partnering with OurWeddingDay.com, the online wedding planning resource, in a bid to offer the most comprehensive and exclusive online wedding planning tools and services by providing “‘recessionista’ brides the ultimate value and convenience for nearly all their wedding needs,” the retailer said, in a statement.
“Given the current economic environment, couples are watching their wedding budgets more than ever,” said Mike Boylson, chief marketing officer, in a statement. “By partnering with OurWeddingDay.com we are able to offer our customers even more value when registering with J.C. Penney. Along with our outstanding selection of affordable registry products, our registry experience now provides helpful tools and services to support the wedding planning process, creating a true one-stop shopping experience that saves our customers both time and money.”
The partnership between the retailer and OurWeddingDay.com follows recent forecasts and statistics on the wedding industry which revealed that the average estimated spending per wedding fell 24 percent in 2008, down from an average cost of $28,704 in 2007, according to J.C. Penney. The cost is expected to fall another 6.5 percent this year, the company said.
